Community Forestry Project

Community Forestry Phnom Chumrouksat has been established since 2014 it is located in Chhvang village, Sam Arng commune, Thalaborivath District, Stung Treng province. The CF is situated along National road 64 and is 40 Kilometers away from Stung Treng Town. It is abundant with natural resources especially forest and wildlife. These resources play an important role in supporting the livelihood of villagers, but the forest is affected by illegal cutting from people inside and outside the community. The community expects that through CF management, the forest tenure will be secured and they can use the forest resources in a sustainable manner and improve their customary use, they expect to also improve livelihood in their community.

From mid of 2018 to present, Phnom Chumrouksat have received funding support from UNDP GEF SGP-funded Sustainable CF Management through Establishment of Eco-tourism Project under facilitation from CEPA. The project supports community forestry management plan development, while  local authority and provincial departments, with the likes of PDoT and PDoE, have provided support to build infrastructure and CBET  development, and PDaFF through FA,  provided technical support to the CF development.
